Japan Police

Today the Japanese police intercepted me. It was my first experience. Just like in movies there was a good cop and a bad cop. They were looking for illegal immigrants and “visa overstayers.” Thank god I was not lazy last week. It missed class to go to City Hall to get my registration renewed for the alien registration card. 外国人登録証明書 [がいこくじんとうろくしょうめいしょ: GAIKOKUJINTOUROKUSHOUMEISHO]

People were telling me I had still 14 days to do it. See if I had waited the cops would have escorted me to my apartment in search of my passport. One thing I did not did correctly. But nobody ever bother here at school. I did not change the registration on the bicycle. By chance, the good Japanese policeman understood that the address of the current bicycle registration was one of a previous Yamasa Student. They seem to know the school name, but not that much. All of this because I went to pay the rent… I am telling you it is dangerous to go in the streets of Japan in March and April. The policeman explained to me that they would check every foreigner today and another random day. I might be checked again in the next weeks.
