Luxury shabu-shabu

Some of you will say that I was lazy not to pick the tradition Japanese side of the restaurant, with tatami floor and low table. My Japanese friends are not too keen on suffering and enjoy having a chair from time to time hahaha.
the art of shabu shabu
Great invention! It was not my first time that I had shabu-shabu, but this time it was really expensive. I tried to ask for the price without looking ill mannered and it appears it is much more expensive than the 8000 yens I paid last time. We had the ladies serving us all the time and I did not do much this time. They removed the grease from the pot, every time they cooked a piece of meat. I had plenty of vegetable, my mum would be proud of me. For desert we had the choice of macha ( green tea ) or sakura ( cherry blossom ) ice-cream. I don’t have the chance to eat very much this year, so for the final 6 months I will be trying to enjoy a little bit more.

I’ve tried this one time the tatami floor and low table and I did not enjoy it that much either… it was in Granby if I remember well, maybe Sherbrooke, anyway it was very far from Japan, that is for sure.

And, by the way, what is a shabu-shabu?

Yay! Another Yamasa Blog. Sorry it took me so long to find you but I see I’m already on the blogroll which is nice. One more week and I’ll be joining all you veterans at Yamasa. First I’m going to scour your blog to see what I can learn :o)

Penny4em, what a shame that you forgot my blog. We exchanged briefly some emails about the school last summer. Any good to know I will see you maybe next week. I wonder of there will be a party for the newcomers like last year.

Nick good to see you post here again! Yes, the table is a pain in the ass.

AH! I forgot your blog after seeking your advice? That’s terrible! Gomen.

I hope there will be a party for the newcomers. It would be a great way to meet everyone.

Nick, its like a “fondue à la Québécoise, mais chinoiiiissse!!!”. In a boiling pot, you put fine slice of pork. In a second one, you put the vegetables.

    Drizzt is here also! Wow!

Penny4em, if you need help with anything drop me a line as I am back from Tokyo.

Thanks! I’ve got less than a week to go now and the nerves are setting in. I’m sure everything will be fine. Or should I say I ‘hope’ they will be? :o)
