Yamasa Students
Next week will mark the completion of 6 months of study in Japan! Let’s recap what happened during those months. Telegraphic style!

I started living in the Yamasa Student Village. After the first week I put my name on the waiting list for single accommodation.
Same time I begin study of Japanese, hiragana first. Placement in lowest level, N Class

May 3rd, I moved to Yamasa’s Residence U on the second floor.

End of June, I failed last 2 exam of session.
Final grade C+
Considered shortening my stay to 6 months.

July term, placement in M class. Start again from lesson 14 in Mina no Nihongo 1.

August started teaching private English lessons.
End of August, confirmed payment for Yamasa until March 2007.

Result of M class exams: 78% 83% 85% 60%
Result of second attempt at Kanji 1: 89%
Final grade B
Need to retest on lessons 29,32 to 35 to move to next level due to identified weaknesses.
Retest scheduled for October 2nd.
Tomorrow I put an end to my vacation and start studying like a madman.
Now wearing glasses after 15 years without contact or anything. Price 85 000 Yens .

Tried to test the student services at Yamasa. They are currently failing my very easy test. Most of the staff is enjoying some vacation and new students are coming soon. But the bed that is still standing in the lobby of my apartment pisses me off. And the hot plate is completely defective; I am tired of repairing it by myself. ( haha got a micro-wave now!)  I was a good boy and asked for those to be check out at the same time I made my rent payment. Monday after my exam I will complain about that.

I made a request to my dear friend here about my return to Canada. Now that I have more time to think about it, I can look at every angles. You can read it here: ( in French on Menzonet.org )

That’s a good recap. It help me understand some things that I didn’t get the first time. For exemple, I didn’t knew you moved.

How come your glasses cost 85000 yens? I know that the cost of life is expensive at Okazaki, but that much? Here, glasses cost 30000 yens. 50000 yens if they are really fashion.

And I thought it was cheap. Yeah you could buy one pair for 4000 yens but those are very ugly.

You can always email me Nick if you want to know more.

Also about that student service test. They came today, they got rid of that awful bed and hot plate. I got a brand new electronic hotplate. In 2 minutes I have boiling water, wich is less time than with my microwave.
