Friday night was the hanami party at Yamasa, in front of the radio station. Only 2 sakura trees but a lot of friends where there to make for the lack to panache of this sakura party. The teachers at Yamasa offered us a lot of things such as onigris, suchis, and… wine! I did not have any of it because I had already eaten before going there. I already knew some of the people that were there. But I have meet new people. The biggest surprise was to meet someone I had already seen on the Internet. Yes it is true I have met an Internet star! I am talking about Andrea from shrub.com . I read some of her posts on her blog about feminism. As I was searching for blogs about Yamasa, her description appeared on google. I wasn’t sure I knew her at the Yamasa entrance ceremony but I had already some doubts.

The other people whom I spend the rest of the evening with were Andreas…with an “S” from Sweden. He is a member of the FSF, the free software foundation. I must be lucky to meet that kind of people. Elizabeth was very sad because Declan does not like bourbon. Try this when you come to Okazaki. Go to the student bar and ask for bourbon. Enjoy the results!

We had a pint of Guinness, which is not that bad after all. The one that is brewed in Canada is not real Guinness, and I remember that it does not taste good. At that point my head was about to explode. I had listened and spoken all day long in English. And those conversations were not about the weather. I had to make an extra effort, but I remained able to understand most of what was said, although I had difficulties answering or participate substantially to the conversation.

We all 4, shared a bowl of Declan’s, Guinness beef stew. It was delicious! That was awkward ( for me ) because I had never shared , with 4 people, a bowl of something…

We exchanged emails then went home. We escorted Elizabeth near the Residence U and went all to bed. (Hey I hope you went all to bed).
