Everyone these days are trying to make money on the web. Even myself I am tempted. But there is always that little voice that tells me that it could be unethical. I mean, throwing a bunch of ads in front of someone else computer screen is not very awarding. They are people with lots of ads on their site, click thru type like google, which pays on clicks. By the way I reviewed the TOS of adsense. I fully understand why menzonet.org got his account terminated. You should not in anyway discuss how much money you make with the program. They are very serious about this point. That’s the reason why the account was terminated. Then you have affiliates programs. You get a commission when someone buys something at your partners. Let’s be honest, I use an ad block. I don’t want to see all the ads in the world. I don’t mind seeing things than may really interest me. J list is a store I like, and I have bought things there so I can recommend them. I like to search the web for reviews before making a deal. Same thing with the Mastering the Adult Web, I searched before I ordered. But I know that even if I put affiliates link in my site I won’t get rich and I may also irritate my true readers. Why I am talking again of this. I read this night the web site of an English teacher who made a blog and also a book. A book he is trying to sell. Sadly he use one of the most know basic template for crooks on the web. It is a long page, with ‘real testimonials’. I don’t say that in this particular case he is a fake but the style he use is so close to those ads, easy money making type, that it look too good to be true. I won’t give free publicity. I should not bother anymore about web marketing, traffic converting, link referrals. I am loosing way to much time understanding the dynamic of the net. I keep telling myself that I should study more my Japanese. It is my dream to go to Japan and to learn Japanese. Nothing else should matter. My focus right now is the last part of my application to Yamasa. I will not buy anything, I will not go out, and I will not surf on the net. I will study. I am looking forward meeting you all in Japan, in Okazaki City at the student dorm, the ‘student village’.
You know, I was waffling on whether I should jump on the ad bandwagon myself. I have friends who have done so, but the idea of using my personal blog to make money seemed like selling out. I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way
Thanks for stopping by my secret blog Oooo!
By the way, your blog is really pretty
‘kay, I’m done for now.
Well.. it is allowed to talk about how much you did, but you must not reveal any interns on how it works..
Are you at Yamasa now, or are you entering with the next group of student visa folks (late October, I think)?
I know you found my current Blog, but I also have an older one which had journals from the last time I went to Yamasa. It is at http://www.singlespeed.org/asia2/japan.html. I didn’t use Blog software to create it, so not as user friendly as current Blogs.
Laura : thanks
Drizzt: we did not, did we?
Peter: I have now this page in my bookmarks
. I am not in Okazaki yet. Will be there in April 2006. I have applied early… There is still a chance that my application will be rejected.
é ‘å¼µã£ã¦ï¼Â (That is ganbatte for those that don’t have Japanese fonts, and means the equivalent to saying “try hard” or “good luck” in English).
You sure are planning far in advance to be thinking of next April. I did both of my prior trips, and this upcoming one, on a few weeks notice based on when it fit in my life.
If you have any questions about the school, don’t hesitate to ask.
Whitwhip : No, we did not!
