I have just received my copy of the instructional cd-rom, Mastering the Adult Web or simply M.A.W. I was interested in the marketing tips they advertised. For a total newbie I guess this is a good start. They start by telling you that you won’t get rich without a lot of effort. It is a good start since most of the scams out here do the opposite. Also this is a publication of the ynot.com webmaster resources site. I have been monitoring this site since 2001 and joined as a member last year. They are a very credible website with big players such as people from Braincash. I currently do not run adult website nor I intend to do so for the next years. But you discover a lot of thing about internet traffic such as how to target, how to redirect and convert traffic into sale. This is applicable to all kind of internet sale with some variation because the product you advertise is much more attractive in term of emotional responses, when it comes to adult material. On the cd I have found the introduction to html very boring, but it is only because I have started playing with websites since 1997. So that technical part was not much of a use for me. They state some general rules about accessibility and design that you should already know if you’ve done your own page for some time. What I like about the cd and the general spirit of ynot is that they clearly state that you should have a business plan. That’s right, it is a business. You need to have realistic expectation about adult web business. Also they tell you to follow the law and stay away of trouble. Better be prepared than sorry. Then they proceed with the most valuable information, the marketing and networking skills. This is not new stuff, but they explain it in very simple terms. So if you are currently wondering how you could make a little pocket money, why don’t you consider giving a try to adult entertainment? Sure there is always adsense and the likes but unless you are a fabulous and proficient writer, you won’t make a lot with words only. More specific information on the Mastering the Adult Web site. You won’t be exposed to objectionable content on the Mastering the Adult Web site or cd. This was my review of M.A.W.
